Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir 2003

Although this year's vintage is not yet rated, Last year's vintage earned this: Black cherries and violets make up the aromatic profile of the 2002 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard. This exceptional wine envelopes the palate with dense layers of gorgeously sweet black cherries, spices, and cloves. Seductive and sultry yet focused and precise, this medium to full-bodied beauty is big, ample, and decadent while remaining refined and detailed. WA 94

Freedom Hill Pinot Noir 2003

Although this year's vintage is not yet rated, Last year's vintage earned this: Armed with a robust nose of deep dark cherries and spices, the 2002 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard is an intense, masculine, muscular counterpoint to the feminine, graceful Seven Springs. Big, broad, chunky, and dense, its powerful personality conquers the palate with thick layers of black cherries. This medium to full-bodied wine will require patience. WA 94

Seven Springs Pinot Noir 2003

Although this year's vintage is not yet rated, Last year's vintage earned this: Medium to dark ruby-colored and revealing awesomely complex aromas of violets, roses, cinnamon, dark cherries, and cloves, this medium to full-bodied wine is concentrated, well-structured, and profound. Its elegant personality is redolent with blackberries, dark cherries, a myriad of flowers, herbs, and notes of briery fruits. In addition, this beauty reveals a prolonged, fruit-packed finish. WA 94

Temperance Pinot Noir 2003

"Temperance Hill is a cool site and benefits from warmer vintages. The 2003 is especially complex. Red and black cherries, dried flowers, and pomegranate aromas are layered with hints of cigar. Intensely concentrated dark cherry flavors, medium-to-rich sweet tannins coat your tongue and your cheeks. Still a bit young and brawny, this Temperance Hill will open over the next six months and should peak in 5-7 years. When I fire up the barbeque, this is the wine I serve. It matches perfectly with grilled meats, vegies and potato salad (my favorite summer meal)." Winemaker Tasting Notes.

"This rich red tastes like blackberry jam on toasted brioche. It's thick on the palate, oozing with sweet fruit and oak, with muscular tannins that barely ripple the surface. Yet it remains fresh, with a clean, floral finish, and all the elements are balanced and lively. Atypical for the region, extraordinary for the vintage. It has all the hallmarks of the international style, but is it authentic Rioja? Does it matter? Drink now through 2015."
