Alain Corcia Chateauneuf Du Pape Creme De La Creme 2006
"A new offering, the 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Creme de la Creme, is a selection of the finest barrels. It boasts more mineral, flowery, black raspberry, and cherry characteristics, medium to full body, sweet tannin, and outstanding depth as well as richness. With the exception of the latter two wines, these 2006s all need to be drunk during their first decade of life. Burgundy wine broker Alain Corcia ventures into the southern Rhone to purchase wine which he then raises in old oak foudres and smaller barriques, and bottles them under assorted names. Some of the cuvees see 30% new oak, but Corcia’s overall philosophy is to keep the wood as a background element to the fruit, which is dominated by Grenache (60-70%) with the rest Syrah and occasionally Mourvedre. The 2006s are charming efforts displaying the vintage’s up-front, forward fruit, but not the structure, weight, or density of the 2005s."

Telegramme Chateauneuf Du Pape 2005
The 2005 Telegramme Chateauneuf du Pape is not as up-front and charming as one might suspect. Revealing more structure, tannin, and backwardness, it offers beefy black raspberry and cherry notes with some Provencal spiciness in the background. This attractive offering needs 1-2 more years to round into shape, and should drink nicely for a decade.

Dom De Marcoux Chat Du Pape 2003
Inky ruby color. Explosively aromatic and nuanced on the nose, with intense cherry, blackberry and cassis fruit aromas complicated by licorice, cola, sassafras, magnolia and dried rose. Exotic and sweet, with wild flavors of blood orange, kirsch, raspberry jam, truffle and mocha. Dense and loaded with extract, with a distinctly unctuous, mouthcoating texture. The tannins are totally buffered by the superripe berry flavors.

Chateau De Saint Cosme Chatneauneuf Du Pape 2003
Medium ruby. Lush, ripe and rich on the nose, with scents of blackberry, cassis, cherry cola and roasted coffee. Serious, concentrated flavors of dark cherry and smoky blackcurrant are tinged with an intriguing note of garrigue Vibrant and long on the finish, with fine, dusty tannins.
