THE STORY

Because of the sheer number of wineries in California, most consumers find it difficult to keep close tabs on new developments from every winery. So it is easy to lose track.

Such is the case of Merryvale in general and their Bordeaux blend “Profile” in particular. This proprietary red receives ratings from the critics well into the 90s in every vintage. Yet, many consumers are not familiar with their wines. Even Mr. Parker recently wrote of Merryvale’s new releases: “This is an impressive group of wines from Merryvale Vineyards, a winery whose offerings I have not tasted for many years.”

Which brings us to today’s offer. Quite arguably, this is the finest wine ever made by Merryvale. As evidence, please read the reviews below. Sure, this is an expensive wine at $111, even if we’re $27 cheaper than anyone else in America. But consider the facts. Merryvale is fanatical about quality and if you appreciate quality it’s going to cost.

Profile 2007 (a GREAT Napa Valley vintage) is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, and 4% Malbec. Grapes originate from four top Napa Valley vineyards: Merryvale St. Helena Estate, Stagecoach, Beckstoffer-To Kalon, and Las Amigas. The grapes are handpicked, triple sorted and gravity fed into fermenters. This wine was aged for 22 months in French oak, 90% of which was new. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

In other words, this is SERIOUS juice! And it tastes damn good too! Now, we’ll let the reviews speak.

* Scheduled to Arrive in October.

Merryvale Profile Napa Valley Red Wine 2007

“Another big-time winner, the 2007 Profile (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, and 4% Malbec) may be the finest wine I have ever tasted from Merryvale. It exhibits an opaque purple color along with classic tobacco leaf, black currant, spicy oak, chocolate, licorice, and graphite characteristics, a big, full-bodied mouthfeel, and tremendous depth, persistence, and length. This proprietary red should continue to put on weight, and last for 15-20 or more years. Very impressive!” 94+ Points Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

“A classy wine that's firm, intense and complex, showing vivld, well-structured blackberry, wild berry and currant fruit, with touches of anise, loamy earth and black licorice. Ends with a lingering mix of berry, cedar and earth touches and tannins that give the flavors traction. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Best from 2011 through 2019.” 93 Points Wine Spectator
