Although it’s old news that 2007 Chateauneuf-du-Pape may be the finest set of wines ever made from anywhere (at least according to Mr. Parker), here are a few 2007 CdPs from a Domaine that we initially missed. These two beauties gathered GREAT reviews from Parker and are now offered to you at Wine Legend’s “Legendary Pricing.” Domaine La Roquete expresses the art of blending of its fine terroirs. Purchased by the Brunier family of Vieux Telegraphe fame in 1986, their idea was naturally to highlight La Roquète’s identity, rooted in the lieux-dits they adopted – the Plateau of Piélong, Pignan (near Rayas), La Roquète, and Colombis & Cabrière (just north of the village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape). ? The personality of each wine developed steadily. And then we came across an old cadastral document from the early 20th century: in it, La Roquète was written with a backward-leaning accent. This prompted a new label design, and the creation of a selected-plot wine called L’Accent de La Roquète. ?The estate has thus slowly and gradually risen in stature, affirming its personality around these terroirs’ freshness, finesse and elegance – terroirs summed up by Robert Parker, to whom the 2005 red Accent tasted “like a grand cru Musigny from Burgundy”. And to think that the 2007 is even better! The 93 point “regular” CdP is in stock right now at a great price. The more coveted 96 point “l’Accent” will be delivered in September. Both are fabulous wines being offered at VERY attractive prices! |

“The 2007 l'Accent de Roquète, a 450 case luxury cuvée composed of 100% Grenache aged one year in tank and one year in foudré, comes from a lieu-dit named Les Pialons. This superb effort displays a dense ruby/purple color as well as a flamboyant aromatic display of black raspberry jam, kirsch, pepper, licorice, and incense, full-bodied power, sensational purity, a multi-layered texture and a sumptuous 60-second finish. A riveting Châteauneuf du Pape, it is the finest effort ever produced by la Roquète. It should drink well for two decades or more”.Wine Advocate 96 Points |
