This newsletter is easy to write as Walter Hansel Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs can always be found at Wine Legend – until we sell out! Quite simply, we love their wines. Today’s offering features two 2007 Pinot Noirs that may be the best Hansel has ever made. And our $34.99 price is the lowest in America!
“The Walter Hansel winery is a source for very fine Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs at some of the most realistic prices to be found in Northern California. The 2007s look to be a return to the brilliant quality of the wines produced here in 2005 and 2004. Tasting through barrel samples of all the 2007 Pinot Noirs, this looks to be a superb vintage for Stephen Hansel. Yields were very small, averaging about 1.5 tons of fruit per acre, so these wines reflect a level of concentration, but with the overt fragrance and good acidity that the cool growing season provided.” Robert Parker Supply is limited (honest) and we expect to sell out. So, as they used to say in the old westerns: “There are only two kinds of people in this world: the quick and the dead.” Be quick. |

“From cool-climate soils, the 2007 Pinot Noir North Slope (Dijon clone 115 exclusively) is another admirable Pinot Noir. Notes of root vegetables, underbrush, clove, cinnamon, and oodles of black cherry and black currant fruit are present in this dark ruby/purple-tinged wine. Good acidity, full-bodied power, and plenty of concentration and depth characterize this very promising Pinot, which should evolve for at least a decade. 92 – 94 Points, Robert Parker
"Deep red. Strikingly fresh red and dark berry scents are complicated by sexy Asian spices and flowers. The palate offers lively strawberry and black raspberry flavors, silky texture and a late note of candied rose. Finishes sweet, focused and very long, with the spice note repeating." 92 Points, Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar Next lowest price in America according to winesearcher.com: $35.94! |
