THE STORY
Here’s the straight talk story on these three lovely Pinots.

Everybody knows that the sour economy has had a negative effect on high end wines. The days of whimsical, egotistical pricing are over, especially for small, newer wineries. In today’s market, if your price isn’t competitive, nobody will buy your wine. Today’s three tiny production Pinot Noirs fell victim to these realities.

Both of these wines were created by small production wineries in 2006 when a “good times” mentality prevailed. But that quickly changed in 2007. Small production and a failure to get the critics to taste the wine hurt sales. The wines had been overpriced to begin with and didn’t sell. Finally, the distributor dropped the price to a “closeout” level where they are now great bargains, not rip-offs. At Wine Legend, we specialize in finding situations like this, like a good stock picker.

We tasted both wines and were noticeably impressed. Both tasted like they should sell for $45 - $50. We bought a lot of wine. At $24.99, we can safely assure you that your money will be well spent on these Pinot Noir specials.

Du Nah Winery Pinot Noir Sangiocomo Vineyard 2006

“This is our sixth year creation of this exquisite wine, where each of the 4 clones were separately processed with wild yeast primary and malolactic fermentations to bone dryness. Aging for 10 months in 100% French oak barrels (40% new) with lies stirring was followed by judicious blending, before unfined and unfiltered bottling. It is wild cacophony of dark plum and black cherry framed by smoky, feral notes around the edges of a core of tropical and dark fruits. This theme continues on the palate with dark rich fruits and sweet tannins, well balanced by nice acidity and a long rich finish.” 331 cases produced Winemaker Notes

Bonaccorsi Pinot Noir Santa Ynez Valley 2006

Regular Price : $69.99  Sale Price: $24.99

“This is actually a St. Rita Hills blend, but since we had two blends this vintage, one had to be called Santa Ynez Valley. I struggled with not vineyard designating Sanford and Benedict this vintage. I felt it brought the best when combined with the Melville Mt. Eden and some Fiddlestix Pommard. Fermented on native yeast for 18 months on 60% new French Oak” Winemaker Notes

Bonaccorsi Pinot Noir Cargasacchi Vineyard 2006

Regular Price : $69.99  Sale Price: $24.99

“What happens when you combine the food and wine passions of two talented people? Give up? You get Bonaccorsi Wine Company, a winery devoted to producing food-friendly wine since their first vintage in 1999, devoting much of their attention to the up-and-coming Central Coast region of California over the past few vintages. There were only 300 cases of this berry-ful vineyard-designated Cargasacchi produced. The wine smells like fresh strawberry French toast with vanilla bean and cracked black pepper, all of which carries over to the full-bodied palate.” Winemaker Notes
