THE STORY
A recent article written by Lettie Teague in The Wall Street Journal caught our eye. She extolled the virtues of Pouilly-Fuissé in general and Chateau Fuissé in particular. To those of us old enough to remember, the article was a throwback to a time three or four decades ago when Pouilly-Fuissé was all the rage – even though most people couldn’t pronounce the name correctly!

Even then, Chateau Fuissé, meticulously run by the Vincent family, stood above other producers making Pouilly-Fuissé. Interestingly, Ms. Teague’s article focused on Chateau Fuissé, easily the most important producer of the region. She wrote: “The 2007 Château Fuissé Tête de Cru, priced about $30, is richer and more broadly styled than the other Pouilly-Fuissés. It is powerful and lush yet elegant; the Château Fuissé in particular showed the promise of many years ahead. When I spoke to Philip Tuinder, Château Fuissé's export director, at his headquarters in Burgundy, he explained that the Tête de Cru, a blend of 20 different vineyard sites, had actually been made to showcase the ageability of Pouilly-Fuissé. "In three or four years you will get a real sense of its character—more minerality, more white truffle," he said."

Of course, Pouilly-Fuissé in general and Chateau Fuissé in particular can always be found at Wine Legend. A friend once teased us that we were “in a time warp” with so much Pouilly-Fuissé in the store. We showed him Ms. Teague’s article. “You see, we are actually ahead of the curve.”

Re-discover Pouilly-Fuissé for the first time. Our sale price makes it easy to fall in love again. This is a terrific wine.

“This property may be the best-known of the appellation, it's certainly one of the most historic. Château Fuissé wines age beautifully (I had a few older vintages recently, some dating more than a decade, and found them remarkably vibrant). Château Fuissé make several different Pouilly-Fuissés; this is made from 20 or so vineyard sites from around the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation; it's a rich, multilayered bottling capable of aging beautifully for years to come.” Lettie Teague, The Wall Street Journal
