Roberto Anselmi was once one of the most famous of all Soave producers, but, while his fame endures, his wines are no longer labeled Soave. Anselmi disagreed with appellation rules, arguing that they discouraged ambition and the production of high-quality wines, and he jettisoned the designation in 2000. Since then, his wines have simply been labeled IGT Veneto. Made primarily with the Garganega grape, Anselmi's wines are notably dense and concentrated. The San Vincenzo bottling is always a high quality wine and a perennial value. It kicks the stuffing out of any Soave!
