THE STORY
"Giuliano Corino makes unbelievably densely-fruited, seamless, velvety and layered wines from Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto; these wines are perhaps the most representative and exciting of all La Morra. Corino has vineyard holdings in the choicest parcels of La Morra: "Arborina", "Giachini" and "Rocche". The "Vecchie Vigne" cuvee was most recently awarded 96 points by the Wine Spectator for the 2003 vintage; this sublime Barolo is a blend of small batches of Nebbiolo from the oldest vines in each vineyard, but mostly from the Giachini. The non-oak-aged Barbera and Dolcetto are delightful, utterly pure expressions of the varietals.

Farming Practices:
Integrated insect and disease control is employed. Sulfur- and copper-based products prevalent. Only manure is used as fertilizer. Spontaneous cover crops (grass cover) are left between the rows of vines. There is minimum use of SO2 in wines in order to prevent oxidation."
